Formed in 2020 during their school years, Snuckouts – Rodrigo Schwalbach (guitar), Finn Panschar (bass & vocals), Tim Purwin (drums) and Romy Weidner (main vocals) – have come a long way from their playful pop-punk beginnings. Now, following Romy’s arrival as their new vocalist in 2025, the band are entering a distinctly new chapter. After appearances at festivals across Germany and support slots for acts including LA Witch and TEMMIS, Slutshaming-Song arrives as their first single in three years.
The single opens with a desperate-sounding phone message, accompanied by a gripping guitar melody that immediately sets an uneasy tone. It is an appropriately intimate introduction for a song concerned with the ways misogynistic expectations can seep into intimacy itself.
As its title suggests, Slutshaming-Song confronts the policing of women’s sexuality head-on. Snuckouts explore the expectations placed on women within relationships and the uncomfortable reality of being reduced to something passive and compliant. Lyrics such as “And when you open your eyes / You’re expecting to see / A silent doll” leave little room for ambiguity, this is anger made deliberately audible.
Spoken-word fragments cut through the track beneath the drums, repeatedly punctuating the song’s mounting intensity and recalling the urgency of its opening. Rather than simply building towards a conventional climax, Snuckouts keep the tension simmering, allowing the track to feel increasingly claustrophobic before finally letting it break.
Then comes the haunting bridge. Its quieter, almost unsettling quality sharply contrasts with everything that came before it, creating a brief moment of unease before the song erupts once more.
We love songs that aren’t afraid to say something, and Slutshaming-Song certainly has something to say. Snuckouts take an experience that will be painfully familiar to many women and turn it into something confrontational and musically compelling.
