Nieve Ella shares her final single ‘At Any Cost’ ahead of the release of her debut album How Long Will It Take out next Friday, October 16th. Described by the singer herself as the “missing piece” to the album, it’s a song that, in her words, “really deserves to stand on its own”.
‘At Any Cost’ is an anthem for the anger-fuelled daughters, while somehow managing to soothe them at the same time.
“I like the thought of lashing out until it bites me in the ass” – It doesn’t get much clearer than that. There’s something wonderfully cathartic about Nieve Ella allowing herself to sit in that anger rather than soften it, while still letting the vulnerability underneath shine through.
Once again, she strips back the darker façade and leaves the emotional edges exposed. It’s messy, honest, raw, unapologetic, but never feels like vulnerability for vulnerability’s sake. Instead, there’s a sense that she’s finally figuring out what it means to sound like herself.
If anything, ‘At Any Cost’ only fuels the hunger for How Long Will It Take. The single showcases just how much range Nieve Ella has while making it clear that she’s left very little behind in the studio. She’s finding who she is, figuring out what she wants her music to feel like, and doing it without sacrificing an ounce of the personality that made her so compelling in the first place.
AT ANY COST OUT NOW.
