Nerves are on a run this year. After releasing N26 earlier in April, they’re already back with their new single Ulcer – a wall of noise that somehow knows when to breathe.
The instrumentation is, as always, incredible, building layer upon layer until it feels almost too large to contain. Guitars crash into each other, the atmosphere thickens, and everything sits dangerously close to tipping over into complete chaos. Yet somehow, it never does. Nerves keep an intentional grip on the track, allowing every burst of noise to feel deliberate.
And then there are the quieter moments. Rather than simply acting as a break from the noise, they give the track room to breathe, making the moments that follow feel even heavier. There’s something almost claustrophobic about the way Nerves move between these extremes, pulling you in before suddenly letting the walls close back around you.
Ulcer feels like controlled destruction. It’s loud without being careless and heavy without losing its sense of atmosphere- The tension is what makes it work so well. With N26 already establishing the pace for Nerves this year, Ulcer feels like another step further into the noise. Excited for what’s to come.
ULCER OUT NOW.
