The Summer of Pop Releases!

2025 is undeniably the summer of pop releases – from Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande to now, Charly Miller!

Since finishing her degree in music, Charly has been steadily building her artistry, releasing three singles this year alone. She describes her own unique sound as a blend of synth-pop and pop-rock, delivering bold, empowering anthems. Cherry Rock Magazine has a soft spot for female power ballads, and Charly delivers them with grit and grace.

We got an early listen to I NEED THERAPY, dropping September 19th, and it’s everything you want from a pop EP: catchy, cathartic, and completely unfiltered.

The track Coming Home is the perfect introduction to what makes Charly such a compelling artist. Her writing pulls you into the story and lets you experience it through your own lens. The song captures the feeling of finding your place in the world with someone you love, wrapped in a catchy beat and powerful vocals.

„I’m coming home / the place where I have grown / and where I found / my love for rock n‘ roll / I know that I’ll be fine / As long as you’re still mine.“

Lyrics like these reveal a deep connection to identity and music, offering both intimacy and universality in equal measure.

Looking at Her dives into feelings of inadequacy and the painful struggle of questioning your sanity in a relationship. It’s about recognizing when you’re not being treated the way you deserve, even when someone tries to convince you otherwise.

„He was looking at her / Said it was nothing / Said it’s nothing you heard / Said you wouldn’t / Let me ever get hurt / til I caught you fucking with her.“

Here, Charly delivers a raw moment of truth — a reminder to trust yourself, protect your worth, and to not ignore the red flags.

But the standout of the EP for us is Worst of Me. Its chorus is a bold anthem about knowing what you deserve and refusing to settle for less. It’s a song about reclaiming your power, refusing to look back at mistreatment with regret but only the wish you would have treated them the same.

„How I wish I gave you the worst of me / Boy I’d lock you out and throw away the key / Oh yeah oh yeah / How I wish I gave you the worst of me / Boy I’d treat you how you were meant to be / Oh yeah oh yeah / Like how you treated me / How you treated me.“

The track radiates both lyrical and sonic strength. With its upbeat energy, it’s the kind of song that can carry you through a breakup or a fight — reminding you that you don’t always have to be the “nice one” when someone isn’t giving you the same energy back.

The EP is a fun listen that captures a rich range of feelings and makes you anticipate what Charly is going to release next! Whether you’re in love, out of love, or somewhere in between, I NEED THERAPY will speak to you.

I NEED THERAPY is out at midnight and we already know that we are tuning in and can honestly say, you should too!

Charly is playing three gigs in the UK at the end of September. Check out her Instagram @charlymiller for more information. (But be quick - it’s next week!)
